THOMPSON: Decent Americans must reject Trump and his fascism

Americans can be fooled…it’s easy with the levels of apathy, ignorance and outright lying that exists today.

A good example is a video I saw on Facebook recently. A young Black woman with a Jamaican accent faces the camera and says the problem with America isn’t Trump…it’s Trump haters. She calls out Left Wing Liberals and Democrats…”they’re ruining America!”

The Trump Republicans who produced the video picked a Black woman…with an obvious accent of an immigrant…to show how they embrace these folks. Kind of funny in a perverse sort of way. You can get someone to do most anything…if you pay enough money.

It is more than sad that people share this Trump propaganda on social media…trying to convince themselves and others that, “See, Trump and Republicans aren’t the problem…even this young, Black woman knows what’s happening…it’s the Left’s hatred for Trump that’s the problem.”

This, of course, is nonsense…more gaslighting, more lies by Republicans…or Russians. The so-called “Left” loves this country…it is filled with educated folks…many of whom – like me – fought for America. We protest because of all the evil…the indecency…the violations of laws and the U.S. Constitution perpetrated by Trump and Republicans.

Trump and Republicans – and yes, I’m including those un-informed, largely ignorant people who voted for Trump and still support him – are doing everything they can to end democracy and impose their will.

What is their will? It is clear…they actually put it in writing – Project 2025 – and say it all the time. Republicans are home to the worst of the worst racists and bigots, fascists, one-dimensional voters who look the other way on the administration’s crimes and corruption…as long as women can’t have abortions for any reason.

Every decent American…hell, every decent human being should reject Trump and his brand of fascism. I’m well-read. I know facts…and I know lies. I read George Orwell’s “1984”…and people who share this bullshit propaganda are guilty of “doublethink”…holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.

Trying to make yourself feel better because you mistakenly voted for America’s Hitler is nonsense. Admit that you made a mistake…you fucked up! Are you willing to stand by and watch Trump and his minions end 250 years of freedom and democracy…just so you can feel better about yourself? That’s doubling down on a fuck-up!

Hey, folks it doesn’t matter that you go to church on Sunday…or do some nice things for those who look and act like you…if you sit idly by…with your ears and eyes tuned to Right Wing propaganda networks and watch as democracy in America fails.

You are just like collaborators in WWII…you don’t have to be a Nazi…you don’t have to be a MAGA minion…you simply need to pass along propaganda and undermine 250 years of blood, sweat and tears in building the world’s greatest democracy.

Trust me…I read history…the world doesn’t remember collaborators in any good light.
