Kamloops RCMP release photo from New Year’s Day bear spray assault

RCMP are again asking the public to help identify a man involved in an assault at a Kamloops retail store.

Investigators have released a photo taken from store surveillance on New Year's Day around 5 p.m.

RCMP were notified several employees had been sprayed with bear spray after confronting a man attempting to shoplift from a store on the 1100 block of Columbia Street West. RCMP do not identify the business.

The suspect is described as a 5'6" Caucasian man with a face tattoo. He was last seen wearing a grey bucket hat, baggy black jeans and a red hoodie.

Anyone with information to help identify this man is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference 2021-62.
