NEW YORK — Vancouver Whitecaps forward Emmanuel Sabbi has been suspended for one game for “serious foul play,” the MLS Disciplinary Committee announced Tuesday.
Sabbi was also fined an undisclosed amount.
The incident took place in the 50th minute of Vancouver’s 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
Sabbi took down Luca Moisa with a bad tackle in midfield. Trainers came on to take a look at Moisa but he eventually got back up and play continued.
Sabbi was shown a yellow card for the play.
He will serve the suspension on Saturday when the Whitecaps host Toronto FC.
