If you live in the area of Park and Valleyview Drives, you might want to check your things after police arrested a man for thieving from vehicles there.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Staff Sgt. Grant Learned says an alert resident noticed a man poking through vehicles and gave police a detailed description. They stopped a man a short ways away. A police dog confirmed they had the right man by following a scent from the vehicles directly to where he was stopped. They arrested the 27-year-old man who is new to Kamloops and found a variety of items including two vehicle GPS units.
Investigators were able to identify the owner of one GPS unit and are asking residents of the area to check their vehicles for damage to door locks or windows and for missing property. After being processed at the RCMP detachment, the man was released on a Promise to Appear in Kamloops Provincial Court on several charges. Learned said he is known to police in Ontario, Alberta and BC for various offences including property crimes.
He reminds people not to leave valuables in their vehicles and to keep all doors locked and windows shut when vehicles are being parked.
