Kamloops RCMP arrest suspect for assaulting an officer
Kamloops RCMP arrested a man for assaulting a police officer during a call to a disturbance earlier this week.
Around 9:30 p.m. Jan 19, police received a report of an aggressive intoxicated man who was being confrontational with customers at a business located in the 900 block of Columbia Street, according to an RCMP media release.
Officers were advised the suspect had assaulted someone while they were en route to the incident.
Once on scene, officers attempted to arrest a man matching the description of the suspect, but he continued to resist, allegedly punching an officer several times. He was arrested and taken to the detachment's cells.
The man was held until he was sober before being released with conditions and a date in court.
