Princeton man to stand trial for murder, attempted murder
PENTICTON — A Princeton man charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder was ordered Wednesday to stand trial.
After nearly six days of a preliminary hearing, Penticton Provincial Court Judge Greg Koturbash determined the Crown had enough evidence to compel John Ike Koopmans, 51, to trial.
Robert Keith Wharton, 44, and Rose Fox, 32 of Princeton, were found shot to death in a home on Old Hedley Road in Princeton March 30, 2013. Another man was found severely injured from what police determined was the same incident. He was taken to hospital and survived after being treated for life threatening injuries. Police said everyone involved in the shootings knew each other.
A trial date has not yet been set.
