Terwiel goes for gold Friday

KAMLOOPS — If you want to catch Sun Peaks skier Elli Terwiel go for gold at the Olympics you will have to start your Friday morning a little early — the first run of the women's slalom begins at 4:45 a.m. our time.

In total 88 racers will compete in the women's slalom event, which sees the athletes race through a course marked with gates spaced more tightly than in other skiing events. Each athlete does two separate runs and the sum of their results make up their total time. Run two will begin at 8:15 a.m.

Terwiel will wear bib 27 for the event. She finished just out of the top-10 in World Cup racing in Finland in November and was 17th in both Slovenia and Austria last January. She also finished in third in the Canadian championships last year.
