Dirt biker killed in crash with SUV on highway: Merritt RCMP

A person riding a dirt bike was killed in a crash with an SUV Tuesday afternoon on Highway 8, according to Merritt RCMP.

RCMP said the dirt bike hit the SUV and the rider was tossed. The collision happened around 5:31 p.m., March 3.

“First responders located the rider with critical injuries and performed living saving measures, however, the rider succumbed to their injuries at the scene,” reads an RCMP media release.

The person behind the wheel of the SUV was treated at the scene of the crash for minor injuries.

The highway was closed during the investigation by the BC RCMP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service.

RCMP don’t say in the release where exactly on Highway 8 the crash happened. RCMP don’t identify the person who died.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to call Merritt RCMP.
