A 60-year-old man was shot in Lumby Tuesday afternoon and a suspect is custody.
Officers were called to a report of shots fired on Schwartz Road in Lumby at approximately 4:20 p.m., March 3, according to an RCMP media release, where they found a man with a gunshot wound.
He was was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, RCMP said.
The heavily-armed Southeast District Emergency Response Team was deployed to assist and at around 7 p.m. a suspect was arrested.
“It’s still early in our investigation, but our initial findings suggested this was an isolated incident with no risk to the broader public,” RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski said in the release.
“As part of the ongoing investigation, we’ve secured a residence in the area that is believed to be connected to the incident.”
RCMP didn’t identify the victim or the suspect.
The suspect was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
