Armstrong man’s $500,000 lotto win means a ‘nice’ retirement

An Armstrong man won $500,000 for matching the Extra numbers on a recent Lotto 6/49 draw.

John S. bought the winning ticket for the Feb. 28 draw at the Armstrong Co-op on Okanagan Street, according to a BC Lottery Corporation release. BCLC no longer releases the surname’s of lottery winners.

He checked his ticket with a self-scanner and “thought it was broken.”

When John shared the news with his wife she thought he was pulling her leg.

He plans to use the money to pay off his mortgage and will give some to his kids.

“This is going to make retirement very nice,” he said in the release.
