

iN NUMBERS: Property tax increases in Kamloops, Okanagan over the past decade
Property tax rate increases are all over the place in Kamloops and the Okanagan, but any significant increase can get people riled up.
Kelowna has kept its tax rate increases relatively steady over the past decade, which isn’t a good look when other cities have had rock bottom increases. But it pays off when other cities have to raise taxes dramatically to play catch up.
Here are some figures for tax rates in Kamloops and the Okanagan:
- 4.46: Dollars per $1,000 of property value was Kelowna’s total residential tax rate for 2025.
- 6.47: Dollars per $1,000 of property value was Kamloops’ total residential tax rate for 2025.
- 5.44: Dollars per $1,000 of property value was Penticton’s total residential tax rate for 2025.
- 5.56: Dollars per $1,000 of property value was Vernon’s total residential tax rate for 2025.
- 2: Per cent. That was the drop in typical home assessment value in Kelowna for 2026.
- 918,000: Dollars. That was the typical assessed property value for Kelowna for 2026.
- 0: That was the change in typical assessed property value for Kamloops in 2026.
- 693,000: That’s the typical assessed property value for Kamloops in 2026.
- 2.5: Per cent. That was the drop in the total value of real estate in B.C. so far in 2026 compared to 2025.
