Downed power line cuts power for hundreds in Kamloops

Power for hundreds of people in downtown Kamloops was cut today after a car struck a power line.

It’s not clear what led to the collision, but a Tesla sedan took out a power pole on Columbia Street, March 12.

Cables, debris and the wooden power pole were strewn about the road near 1 Avenue.

According to BC Hydro, more than 1,000 businesses and households lost their power around 2:30 p.m.

Crews are on-site to repair the damage to the power lines.

It’s not clear whether the driver was injured or any other people were in the vehicle.
