DUNEDIN — Daulton Varsho hit two homers and drove in five runs as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Minnesota Twins 6-1 in spring training action Friday.

Varsho hit a two-run homer off Twins starter Mick Abel in the first inning and a three-run shot off Zak Kent in the fifth.

The centre fielder has driven in eight runs over his past two games.

Eloy Jiménez provided the rest of Toronto’s offence with a solo homer in the seventh.

Former Blue Jay Alan Roden drove in Minnesota’s only run with a fourth-inning single.

Cody Ponce picked up the win for the Jays with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings. He got into some trouble with four walks and two hits and needed to get out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning.
