Heavy snow makes driving a challenge on Coquihalla Highway
Motorists travelling high elevation highways in the southern Interior should be prepared for extreme winter driving conditions today thanks to heavy snowfall.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning this morning, Feb. 1, for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt, as a frontal system passes across the B.C. southern Interior. Up to 25 cm fell on the highway last night, with up to 15 cm more expected today.
Snowfall warnings are also up for the Trans-Canada Highway, Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass, and Highway 3, Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions, the snowfall warning states. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
