FBI joins team investigating 2008 unsolved murder of B.C. real estate agent

SAANICH, B.C. – Investigators from the United States have joined a new team taking a fresh look at the unsolved homicide of Victoria real estate agent Lindsay Buziak and police say there's movement in the 13-year-old case.

Buziak was 24-years-old when she was fatally stabbed while showing a property in Saanich on Feb. 2, 2008.

Saanich police Const. Markus Anastasiades says the new team includes representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as continued support from RCMP.

In a statement released Sunday, he says technology developed since Buziak's death has highlighted additional leads and forensic evidence.

He says officers are again speaking to all possible suspects.

Buziak died while showing a home to an unidentified couple that police say had arranged the meeting using a cellphone later determined to be registered to a fake name in Metro Vancouver.

No charges have ever been laid, but Anastasiades says investigators are confident that people with key details could be ready to talk now.

"We know there is likely information that has not been shared," he says in the video statement.

"We believe people familiar with the circumstances surrounding this case remain in the community," Anastasiades adds. "It is not too late to come forward."

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Feb. 1, 2021.

Note to readers: This is a corrected story. A previous version misspelled Lindsay Buziak's first name.
