RCMP identify suspects after West Kelowna water reservoir damaged

Someone damaged a water reservoir in the Rose Valley Water System in West Kelowna Thursday night, and now RCMP have identified suspects.

City of West Kelowna workers were notified of an alarm at the Tallus Ridge water reservoir Thursday evening, March 19, according to an RCMP media release.

When staff went to check out what caused the alarm, they found damage at the reservoir that seemed intentional, so the RCMP were called.

West Kelowna put out a “do not consume water” order for a portion of the Rose Valley Water Service Area around Tallus Ridge and Shannon Woods because of the damage to the reservoir.

Residents in the affected area have been advised to not use tap water for drinking or food prep until further notice.

Police identified suspects in the case today, March 20, but no one has been arrested.

Anyone who was around Big Sky Drive, March 19, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. has been asked to contact police with any information about suspicious people, vehicles or activity.
