Kamloops RCMP on hunt for bicycle-riding break-in suspects

Kamloops RCMP are looking to the public to help identify suspects involved in two break and enters at the same business.

The break-ins both occurred at an unidentified business on the 1300 block of West Trans-Canada Highway where suspects smashed windows with rocks and left with stolen clothes, according to an RCMP press release.

The first involved one suspect and he was seen on surveillance footage stealing various items of clothing. He then left on a white and silver mountain bike.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man wearing a black Nike sweater, black and while Nike basketball shoes, black gloves and a white mask.

On Feb. 5 around 1 a.m., two suspects broke into the same business and stole clothing items again and fled northbound on mountain bikes.

Suspects were described as men who were wearing all black, a black Nike hoodies, masks and gloves.

Police found that rocks were used to break-in both instances.

“The Kamloops RCMP detachment is are not only asking the public to help identify the suspects, but also to be careful about what they buy and who they buy it from,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “Ask yourself where the item came from, why the person is selling it, and remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is."

Buying stolen products can encourage criminals to keep stealing, she said.

"If you suspect something was obtained illegally, trust your instincts and don't buy it," Const. Evelyn said. "We all have a responsibility in discouraging crime and this is a simple step we can take to help.”
