Missing 12-year-old Keremeos girl has been located

A 12-year-old Keremeos girl, who was missing with a 17-year-old boy, has been located.

RCMP spokesperson Const. James Grandy says in an emailed statement today, Feb. 9, that Mia Aiyana Holmes, 12, has been located and she is safe.

Holmes disappeared from her Keremeos home around 4 a.m. yesterday with Noah Mountain, 17, who was driving a blue, 2004 Nissan Maxima.

Holmes’ mother, Brianne Stewart, said she believed the two made plans to leave for the Lower Mainland on social media. They left their cell phones at home and departed Keremeos with a full tank of gas and several hundred dollars between them early yesterday morning.

Stewart said there was no foul play involved in her daughter’s disappearance, but she was concerned for the pair’s safety, as Mountain was not an experienced winter driver.

Police issued a request yesterday afternoon for public assistance in locating the pair.
