A suspect is behind bars accused of carjacking an automotive shop employee test driving a customer’s vehicle last week.
Officers were called to the report of a robbery and car theft at around 11:30 p.m., March 26, near Bredin Road and Kent Road, according to an RCMP media release issued today, April 2.
An employee at a nearby automotive shop was approached by a suspect who produced a weapon and stole the vehicle. The suspect took off in the stolen vehicle leaving the employee at the side of the road.
“Dispatch continued to receive and broadcast information from additional responding officers where a man with a similar description attempted to forcefully take further vehicles,” the release said.
The suspect was tracked as he drove north through the city toward the Rutland neighbourhood and officers caught up him after he broke into home in the 3000 block of Sexsmith Road and tried to getaway in a vehicle, RCMP said.
Kelowna resident Conrad Loss-Wells appeared in court, March 27, and was charged with robbery, break and enter, forcible confinement, mischief, assault and obstructing a peace officer. He’s scheduled to be back in court today.
“Kelowna detachment officers from across the community quickly mobilized to bring a volatile situation to a safe conclusion,” Kelowna RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Steven Lang said in the release.
Anyone who witnessed the series of incidents are asked to call Kelowna RCMPat 250-762-3300 and quote file 2026-17792.
