A Kamloops nurse has been suspended for two weeks for falsely claiming that a patient was violent towards her.
According to a March 27 BC College of Nurses and Midwives decision, licensed practical nurse Gabriella Lima filed a complaint alleging a patient was violent, but it was found to have been unsubstantiated.
The regular said the Kamloops-based nurse also had an “insufficient handover” when she left work due to an unexpected medical event.
“BC College of Nurses and Midwives standards set expectations to ensure nurses are practising competently, ethically, responsibly, and safely. Nurses are accountable for their nursing decisions, actions, and professional conduct,” the regulator said in the decision. “Nurses must meet these standards in providing care to patients.”
The College says it issued the suspension because of issues related to ethics, professionalism, and a duty to provide care, which took place in or about March and April 2025. The College’s records show that Lima worked for Care Corp Seniors Services in Kamloops.
Lima signed a consent agreement admitting to her conduct.
Along with a two-week suspension, the College also mandated Lima to complete a course on ethics, professionalism, and duty to provide care.
The regulator says it is satisfied that the terms will address the issues and protect the public.
No other details are given in the decision.
