Serious injuries after collisions on slippery roads in Salmon Arm

Three people were injured, one of them seriously, after a number of collisions on slippery roads yesterday, according to Salmon Arm RCMP.

The most serious of three reported collisions occurred on Highway 97B near the Auto Road intersection at about 9:05 a.m., Feb. 16.

In a news release, police say a Toyota Camry was traveling south on the highway when it lost control and crossed into the northbound lane where it was struck on the passenger side by a northbound SUV.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the Camry, was transported by ambulance to the Salmon Arm Airport with serious injuries and air lifted to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

The driver and passenger in the SUV were transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, a single vehicle lost control on ice covered roads on the Trans-Canada Highway at Kault Hill and came to rest in the ditch. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

And, a single vehicle lost control in the 1200 Block of Highway 97B, crossed the centre line and hit a sign post before coming to rest in the ditch. Police say the driver of this vehicle was unharmed.
