Zhilkin has three goals, assist as Canada downs Norway 8-0 at under-18 hockey event

TRENČÍN — Dima Zhilkin had three goals and an assist to power Canada past Norway 8-0 on Saturday at the world under-18 men’s hockey tournament.

Gavin Betts stopped 12 shots for the shutout, Canada’s second in as many games. The Canadians downed Latvia 6-0 on Thursday.

Tynan Lawrence had a goal and two assists for Canada while Jaxon Jacobson scored twice. Beckett Hamilton and Zach Olsen rounded out the scoring.

The Canadians outshot Norway 66-12.

“I thought it was a complete game in the sense that we did not have any passengers tonight,” said Canadian team head coach Drew Bannister. “These games can be difficult to play in, but I do not think we deviated from our game plan and how we wanted to play.

“I still think there is room to grow for our group and we can get better. The games are going to get tougher so we will need to be better.”

Canada takes on Finland on Monday.
