Vernon moms limber up for unplug and play week

Moms and tots were at Hayden Fitness on 30 Avenue today for a rejuvenating yoga session. The class was part of Vernon's first Unplug and Play week, an event aimed at getting kids off the couch and into the world.

Studio owner Marie Hayden says the Mom and Me Yoga class is all about comfort, relaxation and bonding with your child. The atmosphere is non-judgemental and open.

"If you need to stop to change a diaper, go right ahead," Hayden says.

Hayden led the group through a variety of poses designed to open the hips, chest and shoulders while improving strength and balance.

Unplug and Play week started April 26 and runs until May 5. Over 80 local organizations are participating in the program. Clay work, storytime, Zumba and bowling are just some of the activities available.
