AFC Toronto, Halifax Tides battle to 0-0 draw in NSL action at BMO Field

TORONTO — The Halifax Tides remained in second place through the first two weeks of the Northern Super League season after battling AFC Toronto to a 0-0 draw Sunday at BMO Field.

The Tides and Toronto both have four points (1-0-1) with a win and a draw, but the Tides have a plus-2 goal differential, one better than Toronto.

The Montreal Roses lead the table with six points (2-0-0).

Both goaltenders were relatively busy. Toronto’s Sierra Cota-Yarde faced 12 shots, including six on target, while Halifax ‘keeper Rylee Foster faced 13 shots with five on target.

AFC Toronto opened the season on April 24 with a 1-0 win at defending champion Vancouver in a rematch of last year’s Diana B. Matheson Cup final. Halifax downed visiting Ottawa 3-1 the next day.

Week 3 action kicks off Wednesday with Ottawa (1-1-0) hosting Vancouver (0-2-0).
