RCMP launch homicide investigation after early morning Kamloops shooting

A report of a shooting early this morning in Kamloops has turned into a homicide investigation.

Officers were called to the shooting in the 200 block of Columbia Street, according to an RCMP media release.

“Police have since confirmed the incident is being investigated as a homicide,” RCMP said in the release.

“Evidence currently available to investigators is indicative of a targeted incident.”

RCMP said no other information will be released to the public at this time as the investigation continues and police communicate with the victim’s family.

Anyone with information about the homicide, or who has dash cam video from between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m., May 5, in the 200 block of Columbia Street, is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2026-13670.
