Short blast of cold, then warmer weather ahead
THOMPSON-OKANAGAN — Following a series of systems that dumped as much as three metres of snow on area highways a cold blast of Arctic air has settled in, leaving us to deal with below normal temperatures for a few days.
Over a 10-day period nearly 3 m of snow fell over the Coquihalla Highway near the summit but Arctic air pushed in over the weekend, dropping temperatures and bringing drier conditions. Southern parts of the region continued to get light snow over the weekend but by tomorrow sunshine and just below normal temperatures will begin to warm up.
Today we will only reach highs of around -1 C to 0 C, with flurries in the more southern part of the region, but by tomorrow we will see temperatures reach up to 3 C. Temperatures are expected to reach normals of 5 C to 6 C by Thursday, though there is a chance of precipitation through the Okanagan Wednesday and Friday.
