COVID outbreak at Vernon long-term care home declared over

Interior Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak at the Noric House long-term care facility in Vernon over.

In total, 39 residents, 28 staff and 10 deaths were linked to the outbreak which was declared Dec. 28, 2020.

"I want to thank our staff for their hard work during this challenging outbreak at Noric House," Interior Health president and CEO Susan Brown said in a media release. "On behalf of Interior Health, we send our condolences to the loved ones and caregivers of those who passed away."

Nordic House is owned and operated by Interior Health and provides 85 publicly funded beds at the long-term care home.

"We are pleased to declare another COVID-19 outbreak over," chief medical health officer Dr. Albert de Villiers said in the release. "We are seeing a decrease in the number of cases in long-term care thanks to COVID-19 vaccinations."

No other information was released by Interior Health.
