Kamloops RCMP officer bitten by suspect during arrest

Kamloops RCMP are releasing details of an assault on an officer earlier this week during which an RCMP member was bit by a suspect.

RCMP say they responded to the 1200 block of the West Trans-Canada Highway after receiving a report of a woman who was refusing to leave and being aggressive at about 12:40 p.m. on March 1.

After speaking with the woman, she still refused to leave, according to an RCMP news release.

Police say she bit an officer while resisting arrest.

“The officer suffered minor injury, but is expected to recover fully,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said.

The suspect, who is 29, was released with a court date related to potential charges, including assaulting a police officer, RCMP said.
