Toronto FC sends forward Ryan Johnson, goalie Milos Kocic to Portland

TORONTO – Toronto FC has traded forward Ryan Johnson and goalkeeper Milos Kocic to Portland for goalkeeper Joe Bendik, a first-round pick in the 2013 SuperDraft and allocation money.

The 23-year-old Bendik played in five games for Portland last season, with three starts.

Prior to signing with the Timbers in February, the American ‘keeper played his first two pro seasons with Songdal in Norway.

Toronto already holds the first pick in the January draft. Now it also has the third.

Kocic played the majority of games in goal for Toronto this season but seemed destined for a backup role next year with the return from injury of Stefan Frei.

Johnson was also an iron man for the team this season, with seven goals in 31 MLS games. But he appeared to grow disenchanted as the season wore on.
