Ontario braces for a major snowstorm
TORONTO – Environment Canada says a snowstorm that’s bearing down on Ontario will make itself felt in the Maritimes days later.
Senior climatologist David Phillips says a large swath of central Ontario will find itself under 15 to 25 centimetres of snow by Friday evening.
The system will then start making its way east to Quebec before dumping up to 30 centimetres of snow over parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
Phillips says the storm will feel unusual to residents of central Ontario, who have enjoyed comparatively snow-free winters for the past several years.
He says the last time Toronto recorded a snowfall of more than 15 centimetres was back in December 2008.
No major weather warnings are projected for areas west of Ontario.
