TORONTO – Comic actress Mary Walsh has been named ACTRA’s 2013 Woman of the Year.

She was presented with the award, chosen by the ACTRA National Women’s Committee, on the opening night of her one-woman show “Dancing with Rage” in Toronto.

The St John’s, N.L. native, best known for work on CBC-TV’s “This Hour Has 22 Minutes,” said she was “over the moon” to receive the honour.

Walsh has also received the Order of Canada, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards for lifetime artistic achievement, and 18 Gemini Awards.

ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) is a national union representing about 22,000 English-language professional performers.
