CHILLIWACK, B.C. – On Day 2 of the election campaign, B.C. Liberal Leader Christy Clark is visiting what could be key swing ridings, trying to shore up support for her trailing party.

Clark’s day included a visit to a concrete plant in Chilliwack, an area that has been a traditional Liberal stronghold where the New Democrats won a byelection last year.

The premier then heads to Merritt and Kamloops, a bellwether riding that has voted in a member of the governing party every election for more than a century, and where Liberal Environment Minister Terry Lake was the target of an unsuccessful anti-HST recall effort.

The Liberal leader says The Langley Concrete Group will be building the liquefied natural gas plants planned for northern B.C. — an example of the “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity posed by the LNG industry in B.C.

She is aggressively branding the campaign as a choice between her jobs plan and a “tax-and-spend” NDP.

Clark says the New Democrats have announced a billion dollars in spending in just the first two days of the campaign.
