Man accused in ‘public execution’ of Vancouver gang member found in Greece

VANCOUVER – First-degree murder charges are pending against a man police say staged a well-planned public execution in Metro Vancouver’s ongoing gang war.

Police say they’re now working on extraditing 25-year-old Rabih “Robby” Alkhalil (al-kah-leel) from Greece to face the charge after he was stopped there for a traffic violation.

Alkhalil is accused of shooting Sandip Duhre in an upscale restaurant of Vancouver’s Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel in front of several people, including members of the Women’s National Cuban soccer team.

Supt. Mike Porteous of the VPD Investigation Division says police believe the murder was a contract killing related to gang wars in the region.

Alkhalil, who’s from Montreal, is also wanted in connection with the murder of Johnnie Raposo, a mobster who was shot and killed outside a cafe in Toronto.

The investigation took over a year and was supported by police in Quebec and Ontario, and the FBI in the United States.
