Mild spring-like weather for Kamloops and Okanagan this week

Kamloops and the Okanagan will see some pleasant spring conditions around mid-week before clouds and possible showers move in to the Okanagan for Friday.

Today, March 15, Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton could see a 30 per cent chance of showers, or even a flurry or two in Kelowna and Vernon, with highs of 10 C in those two cities. Penticton should see a high of 11 C today.

Kamloops should escape the moisture today, with a mix of sun and cloud expected, and a high of 10 Celsius. It looks like Kamloops will miss out on any weekend precipitation later this week as well.

Mainly sunny conditions return to all four cities tomorrow, with highs of 11 C expected in Vernon and Kelowna. Kamloops and Penticton should reach 12 C.

A warm Wednesday and Thursday is in the forecast, with daily highs around four degrees above seasonal norms.

It should reach 14 C on Wednesday, and 16 C Thursday in Kamloops, with highs for the Okanagan cities of Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton predicted at 13 C on both days.

Clouds are expected to return to the Okanagan on Friday, however, with showers anticipated Friday night, lingering into Saturday.

Normal daily Okanagan highs and lows for this time of year are 9 C and -1 C.

No rain is forecast for Kamloops, with a forecast calling for a sun and cloud mix and seasonable temperatures through Sunday.

Kamloops normally sees an average high and low of 11 C and -1 C this time of year.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.

As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
