Kids safe after Glenmore bus crash

KELOWNA – As many as six people were able to walk away from an accident on Glenmore Road that involved a school bus and two other vehicles shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The school bus, carrying three middle school children, was stopped on Glenmore Road facing north. An eastbound black Mercedes on McKinley Road pulled onto Glenmore and was struck by a white pickup truck headed south. The impact severely damaged both car and truck, and sent the truck into the front of the bus, which sustained visible damage to the bumper.

RCMP Const. Paul Mlait said the investigation is still underway but it looks as though the driver of the Mercedes did not see the pickup and pulled out at the wrong moment.

There are no significant injuries, however traffic along Glenmore was backed up several kilometers in both directions.
