SAN DIEGO – How many more colours can Zoe Saldana be on the big screen?
The actress portrays green-skinned alien Gamora in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” after going blue in James Cameron’s “Avatar.” She recently reprised her other space-bound character, Uhura, in JJ Abrams’ “Star Trek Into Darkness.”
The 35-year-old actress said in an interview at Comic-Con that she’s finding more “meaty” female roles in science-fiction than in earthbound movies.
Chris Pratt is among Saldana’s co-stars in “Guardians.” The movie had been filming for just a few weeks in the U.K. before its actors dropped in to show footage to fans.
Pratt acknowledges comparisons between his character Peter Quill and another iconic interplanetary gunslinger — Han Solo. He calls “Guardians” ”a big space opera.”
