Rainbow crosswalk in North Okanagan smeared in white paint, again

The rainbow crosswalk opposite Kalamalka Beach has once again been the target of vandals who recently smeared white paint across the multi-coloured road markings.

According to the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, the vandalism took place sometime between March 12 and 13.

"This is the second incident in less than two years that vandals have targeted this location," Vernon RCMP spokesperson Corp. Tania Finn said in a media release. "Unfortunately, no suspects were identified in the investigation in 2019."

The RCMP is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Vernon RCMP Const. Robert Drake at 250-260-7149 or remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online at www.nokscrimestoppers.com.

After a decade of globetrotting, U.K. native Ben Bulmer ended up settling in Canada in 2009. Calling Vancouver home he headed back to school and studied journalism at Langara College. From there he headed to Ottawa before winding up in a small anglophone village in Quebec, where he worked for three years at a feisty English language newspaper. Ben is always on the hunt for a good story, an interesting tale and to dig up what really matters to the community.
