B.C. man faces possible charges after allegations of confinement, sexual assault

PENTICTON, B.C. – The RCMP in Penticton, B.C., say a 42-year-old man is in custody over allegations that his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend was confined and sexually assaulted.

A news release says the alleged attack happened in a remote area on Sunday, after which the suspect apparently consumed some pills, causing him to become unconscious.

The young woman freed herself and then drove herself and her ex-boyfriend back from the remote area to call police in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police transported the man to hospital, where he remained under a police guard.

The suspect was later transferred to the local RCMP detachment, where he is expected to remain until a scheduled court appearance on Thursday.

The RCMP say numerous charges are being considered against the man as the investigation continues.
