Saskatchewan boy, 13, appears in court on attempted murder charge

WARMAN, Sask. – A 13-year-old boy charged with the attempted murder of a classmate in Saskatchewan has made a brief court appearance.

He was arrested after a 13-year-old girl was found with multiple stab wounds Friday night in the community of Warman.

The boy, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was being held for another court date Tuesday in Saskatoon.

RCMP Sgt. Warren Gherasim says the girl, who was in stable condition, gave a police a first name that helped them identify a suspect.

Police are still looking for the weapon used in the attack, which is believed to be a knife.

The Prairie Spirit School Division says both teens attended Warman High School and counsellors were on hand today to help students deal with what happened. (The Canadian Press, CKOM)
