Inquest hears triage aide doesn’t remember Winnipeg man who died in hospital ER

WINNIPEG – A triage aide who was the first to talk to a man who died during a 34-hour wait in a Winnipeg hospital’s emergency room says he doesn’t remember the encounter.

Jordan Loechner (LOCK’-ner) told an inquest into the death of Brian Sinclair five years ago that he doesn’t remember the double-amputee.

Video surveillance shows Loechner speaking to Sinclair for less than a minute when Sinclair first arrived at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre.

Loechner is seen after that writing something on a piece of paper.

Sinclair wheeled himself into the waiting room, but was never formally triaged or given medical care.

He died of a treatable bladder infection caused by a blocked catheter.
