CTV announces ‘Masterchef Canada’ details; cooking competition to begin Jan. 20

TORONTO – Get ready for “Masterchef Canada.”

CTV announced details for the cooking show — a spin-off of the U.S. programs “Masterchef” and “Masterchef Junior” — during Sunday’s Grey Cup broadcast.

The network says “Masterchef Canada” will begin on Jan. 20 and that the first elimination episode will take place after the Superbowl.

“Masterchef Canada” will feature Michael Bonacini, Alvin Leung, and Claudio Aprile as judges.

In the premiere episode, 50 home cooks will present their signature dish to the panel.

Those with the best offerings will be asked to move on. The starting 50 will be announced in the coming weeks.
