WINNIPEG – Now that he can remove the “acting” from his title, Winnipeg Blue Bombers general manager Kyle Walters says signing a new coach is the first item on his list.
But getting the team’s scouting department operational and landing a new quarterback is pretty high as well.
The Bombers are looking for someone to build them a brighter future, following a season that saw the team tie a modern record for futility at 3-15.
Bombers president Wade Miller announced Walters appointment Tuesday, saying he looked at all available candidates and felt Walters was the best.
This is his first shot at general manager, although he has 12 years experience in the CFL as a player, coach and, most recently, assistant GM in Winnipeg.
