American skier who went out of bounds OK after night lost on B.C. mountain

SUN PEAKS, B.C. – An American skier who spent a cold night lost on a B.C. mountain is OK after she was found by search-and-rescue teams.

The 40-year-old woman from Washington state became separated from her partner after the pair went of bounds at Sun Peaks Resort, northeast of Kamloops, on Friday afternoon.

Alan Hobler of Kamloops Search and Rescue says the woman was discovered at around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday in an area known as The Gils.

Meanwhile, two sisters were also reported missing Friday afternoon after venturing out of bounds.

Sun Peaks spokesman Christopher Nicolson says the sisters were found before midnight.

Nicolson says the organization is considering charging the boundary-jumpers for the resources the resort spent trying to find them.

If that happens, Nicolson says the resort would only bill the skiers for the costs incurred by Sun Peaks and not any resources used by search-and-rescue teams.
