Prime Minister rides a bus with scouts, meets supporters on Vancouver Island
NORTH SAANICH, B.C. – Prime Minister Stephen Harper hopped on a yellow school bus packed with young boy and girl scouts from Vancouver Island.
Harper boarded the bus moments after his plane touched down at Victoria International Airport today.
The bus, loaded with about 40 scouts in their uniforms, is on headed north on Vancouver Island, where Harper is expected to meet with Conservative party supporters later today.
Harper spoke with the scouts but did not provide an opportunity to take questions from the media.
Security at Victoria’s airport was heavy prior to Harper’s arrival, with at least 20 plainclothes officers and several others in uniform.
The RCMP is reviewing the prime minister’s security after two protesters made it on the Vancouver stage where Harper sat yesterday.
