Raonic, Nestor, Pospisil, Dancevic rep Canada against Japan at Davis Cup tie

Martin Laurendeau says Canadian tennis is on a roll and there’s no reason to think that will change.

The Canadian Davis Cup team captain spoke as his squad prepares to meet Japan in Tokyo to kick off the new Davis Cup season at the end of the month.

Japan has a 5-0 Davis Cup edge against Canada but it’s hard to place much weight on that since the two countries last met in 1938.

But Laurendeau says Japan’s top-ranked player in the upcoming tie, Kei Nishikori, has been showing what he can do at the Australian Open and is almost a one-man team.

Canada will be represented by Milos Raonic, Daniel Nestor, Vasek Pospisil and Frank Dancevic and is looking to maintain it’s position in the World Group for a fourth straight year after reaching the semifinals in 2013.
