Portugal, Croatia set to meet in Toronto for World Cup knockout match

TORONTO — Portugal and Croatia will be heading to Toronto for their first knockout match of the 2026 World Cup.

The round of 32 match is scheduled for Thursday, starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Portugal finished second in Group K with one win and two draws, while Croatia was second in Group L with two wins and a loss.

Portugal played in a group with Colombia (2-1-0), DR Congo (1-1-1) and Uzbekistan (0-0-3). Croatia competed against England (2-1-0), Ghana (1-1-1) and Panama (0-0-3).

Portugal scored six goals and only allowed one across three matches, while Croatia scored five times and surrendered five goals.

Croatia beat Panama 1-0 on June 23 at Toronto Stadium.
