A couple in Penticton got some life-changing news when they found out they won the lottery.
Maureen and Darrell S. were at home when they saw that someone in Penticton won the $75 million Lotto Max draw. When they checked their ticket they realized they were the lucky ones, according to a press release from BCLC issued today, July 3.
“I pulled the ticket out and the numbers were lining up,” Darrell said in the release. “We manually referenced the winning tickets online but we needed to check at a terminal.”
The outdoorsy couple is going to celebrate with a few friends and family over the weekend while they figure out how they’re going to spend the money.
“We might rent a camper or maybe take a nice cruise around the world,” Maureen said. “We will be setting a small amount aside for ourselves, and the remaining is allocated to specific charity organizations that are important to us.”
“We’re excited but experiencing every emotion imaginable,” Darrell said.
The odds of winning a Lotto Max jackpot are one in 33 million.
