U.S. man dies after being struck by bicycle when crossing road in downtown Vancouver

VANCOUVER — A 72-year-old man from the United States has died days after being hit by a cyclist in a Vancouver crosswalk.

Police say the man died in hospital on Sunday after a couple crossing the road at West Cordova and Richards streets on June 29 were hit by a cyclist.

The man had originally been reported as in critical condition and required emergency surgery.

Police say the couple visiting from the U.S. had the right of way when the crash happened.

The man’s wife, who was also struck by the bicycle, suffered minor injuries and has recovered, while the cyclist was not hurt.

Police say the cyclist remained at the scene of the crash, and the investigation into the case is ongoing.
