Lionel Messi’s World Cup scoring streak ended at nine games, but he still led defending champion Argentina to the semifinals. Julian Alvarez scored the go-ahead goal in extra time and Messi assisted on Argentina’s first goal in a 3-1 win over Switzerland on Saturday night in Kansas City, Missouri. England advanced to the semifinals earlier Saturday, getting two goals from Jude Bellingham to beat Norway 2-1 in Miami Gardens, Florida.
