The RCMP’s underwater search team is looking for a man police believe drowned in Mara Lake on Friday.
The Sicamous RCMP received a report about a missing person after friends on a boat realized that someone was unaccounted for at 8:13 p.m. on July 10, according to a press release from police.
Police along with Search and rescue looked for the man on the water and along the shoreline. Searchers worked throughout Saturday and then the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team was brought in.
The recovery team used sonar to look for the man on Sunday, but to no avail because of the size of Mara Lake.
The search is set to continue tomorrow, July 14, with a different kind of towed sonar technology.
“We would like to thank Search and Rescue volunteers and all partner agencies involved for their continued dedication and support throughout this operation. Our thoughts are with the missing man’s family and friends during this difficult time,” Sicamous RCMP commander Sgt. Murrey McNeil said in the release.
On Saturday, a man not wearing a lifejacket drowned when he fell from a tube being pulled by a boat.
